A Note for You

June Clapp

Since I was a child, I have been interested in art. I studied oil painting while in high school and as a freshman at Portland State University.

After a career as a music teacher, I started watercolors in 2001, studying with Jude Welter, Rene Urgin, and Kati Bendig. Since Kati's untimely death, I meet with two of her former students to continue painting together weekly. I have recently added photography to my artistic endeavors.

I love the complete absorption in right brain thought while painting - I know I have two "right brains."

In both watercolor and photography, my subject matter is varied - still life, animals, vegetables, flowers and landscape. The mixing of colors and exploring elements of composition will take a lifetime of study.

I am now a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon. Three of my paintings were awarded prizes in the Adult Professional Division of the Clackamas County air.
